Year 3 Home Learning

Welcome Year 3! You are all brilliant at learning at school, so here are a few extra ideas for how you can also learn at home.

Maths!

You are all absolutely fantastic mathematicians! Keep practising your times tables and number bonds at home. A fun website is Hit the Button: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button. You can choose any category and difficulty if you want to challenge yourself a bit more. If you want to look at some different mathematical strategies, White Rose Maths has videos explaining different areas that we have studied so far this year: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/

Times tables!

Times Table Rock Stars is a brilliant way to learn your times tables! Use your log in details from school to access it at: https://play.ttrockstars.com.

Reading!

We love reading in Year 3, especially books written by Roald Dahl and David Walliams. It’s great that you all read at home as well. You’ve all got your school reading book, but alongside this please read anything that interests you – we don’t mind if it’s a comic book, a recipe book or War and Peace! A brilliant resource is Oxford Owl where you can read any of your school reading books on screen and it can even read them out to you! Go to https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/ and click on "My class log in" at the top. Enter the class name: Idle Primary 3 and password: Year 3. Choose any book from the ebook library.

Writing!

You have all proved yourselves to be very creative writers. If you want to do some more writing at home, check out https://www.pobble365.com. They post a picture a day with question and story ideas to get you started.

Science!

With your brilliantly inquisitive questions, you are all super scientists! Here are some fun investigations and experiments that you can try at home: https://www.sciencefun.org/kidszone/experiments/ Please always have an adult to help you though!

PE!

“This is PE” from the Yorkshire Sport Foundation have lots of different ideas for you to practise your skills at home. You can find their videos on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYGRaluWWTojV3An2WEgsQ4qGFy_91jDL

Art!

Art for Kids Hub on Youtube have lots of videos teaching you step-by-step how to draw. You can draw a Minion, Olaf, a penguin or hundreds of other things!

BBC Bitesize have a brilliant range of resources for all subjects. Choose whichever areas interest you – there’s everything from volcanoes and oceans to Ancient Greece and dance mat typing!

Use your log in details for Purple Mash to access activities for all subject areas. If you’ve completed all your set work, you can have an explore!

After all that hard work, sometimes we like to learn by watching. Programs we enjoy on CBBC iPlayer include: Horrible Histories, Gym Stars, Operation Ouch, Newsround, Billionaire Boy and Deadly 60.

We can’t wait to hear what you’ve discovered!
