"Jesus came to give fullness of life" John 10:10

Spelling and reading are simultaneously taught in phonics. Through ‘Letters and Sounds’, children are introduced to the different sounds by saying them, writing them and putting the sound into a word. As a child progresses, they will be introduced to tricky words and common exception words, as well as relevant high frequency words. Throughout KS1 and KS2, children will learn the spelling patterns and rules as set out in the National Curriculum, as well as the statutory word lists. Children are shown the importance of embedding these newly learnt words in their writing, reading and understanding, so they become part of their natural vocabulary.
