Admissions Policy and Application Forms

All children in Bradford are admitted into the EYFS (Reception) Class in the academic year in which they are five.  All children begin school in September.

The number of new children we can accept each year is 60; if there are more applicants than places available, the Governors, who are the admissions authority for the school, will operate the following oversubscription policy.

The admission of pupils with a statement of special educational needs or education, health and care plan is dealt with by a separate procedure.  Such children will be admitted to the named school without reference to the oversubscription criteria below. This is a statutory entitlement under S.324 of the Education Act 1996. 

Outside the normal admissions round, the Local Authority’s Fair Access protocol will be applied alongside the policy to secure the admission of vulnerable pupils from specific groups.

 

Parents wishing to apply for a Reception place at Idle Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School:


You need to apply to the local authority where your child lives. If your child lives in the Bradford District, you should apply through the online admissions system between 15 November 2023 and 15 January 2024.

If your child has a formal offset agreed please contact the Admissions Team for a paper application form. You will be unable to apply through the online system.

  1. The application should be made on the online form at www.bradford.gov.uk/admissions please ensure that the form is completed and submitted by the 15th January 2024. A paper version is available from the Local Authority for those who cannot use the online system.   1. Must, when applying on Faith grounds, complete our  SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION FORM which is available from the school or the school website - please see below.

    This should be returned directly to the school by the national closing date for Primary school places which will be midnight on 15th January 2024.
  1. When you are applying to Idle Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School on Faith grounds you will be asked to provide a completed Confidential Church reference form from your Minister. 

    The confidential Church Reference form for your Minister to complete is available from the school, or in the documents below.  
     

N.B.  It is the Parent’s responsibility to ensure the Minister has returned the form to the school and that the school is in receipt of the completed form before the national closing date.
 

  1. If you apply online for a primary school place, you will receive an email on 16 April 2024 telling you which school your child has been offered (unless you opted out of this service). Emails will be sent out from 8am on 16 April.

    All online applicants can also view their child’s school place offer from midnight on 16 April by logging into their account on the online system.

    Parents and carers who applied on a paper form or opted not to receive an email will have their child’s allocation letter sent out by Royal Mail, first class post, on 16 April.

 

In-year application: 

For in-year applications parents should complete the in year application form on our website and ring the school office on 01274 410111 to discuss a school place.
