Innovation Centre Gaming Festival 2019 – Year 6
On Tuesday 9th July, 4 of Year 6 were chosen to attend the Gaming Festival at the Innovation Centre in Bradford centre. Some of the Year 6 children had spent the last month in computing club and computing lessons creating their characters and games to be entered into this competition.
The children enjoyed their afternoon listening to key note speaker Mr Ali who had worked in the Games industry and now lectures at a local college.
They had hands on experience of alternative interactive games that had used the Scratch software they use in school to create their games. Games such as Operation – Large scale and making music with baseball caps. Space Invaders with a difference where they were the controllers by wearing baseball caps and bouncing up and down on a chair to make connection to make the game move and fire.
They then went on to play on the other Gaming Festival competition entries to judge which they thought were the best. We had 9 entries from our school, but unfortunately we did not win on this occasion. They are my winners as they worked so hard with determination and creativity in designing their characters and games. Well done Year 6.
